Why Tomato is a Fruit?

Is a tomato a fruit? According to the dictionary it is!

to·mato: soft juicy red or yellow fruit eaten raw or cooked as a vegetable.

What exactly is a fruit?

fruit: fleshy, seed-bearing part of a plant used as food; quantity of these.

Why isn't the tomato a vegetable?

ve·get·able: part of various types of plants eaten as food.

The fruit-vegetables are as healthy as fruit. Some cookbooks make a distinction between fruit, fruit vegetables and vegetables. If you look at it that way; a tomato is a fruit-vegetable. Same as the fruits below: egg-fruit, green pepper, hot pepper, avocado, red pepper, cucumber, tomato and zuchini. These fruits contain the same nutritious elements as the common fruits and contribute as much to your diet as the fruits we call fruit vegetables.

Fruit Juices

5 pieces of fruit a day
To meet your "five to nine pieces of fresh fruits a day" you can squeeze the fruits instead of peeling them and eating them by hand. Squeezing is much more efficient: one glass of 2 squeezed oranges, 2 mandarins and 1 grapefruit can be squeezed in 5 minutes. If you eat 1 banana afterwards you already have consumed 6 pieces of fresh fruits! This also means that you can consume the largest part of the required nutritional elements you need for a day in just 10 minutes...

Juice
The best way to consume fruit is raw, with its skin or with the skin peeled off on an empty stomach or 20 minutes before other meals. If you're not such a fruit-eater and want to have more from the good stuff, the best way to start eating fruit is to squeeze fruit juices. In this way you can get used to fruit and after drinking juices for a while you'll see that your appetite to have raw fruits will increase.

Why Fruit?

Eat (more) fruit
These ideas might stimulate your fruit consumption!
Why should we have five to nine fresh pieces a day, organically grown if possible?

* For the largest part fruit consists of water just like the human body does;
* Fruit is 100% bad-cholesterol free;
* Fruit stimulates the memory;
* The idea that fruit is an expensive nutrition;
* The miraculous healing effects of fruit;
* Fibers;
* Fruit makes you feel better;
* Ethical reasons to eat fruit;
* Fruit is the most natural food;
* The human diet;
* Fruit juices - squeeze those fruits!

List of culinary fruits

This list of culinary fruits contains the names of some fruits that are considered edible in some cuisines. The definition of fruit for these lists is a culinary fruit, i.e. "Any sweet, edible part of a plant that resembles fruit, even if it does not develop from a floral ovary; also used in a technically imprecise sense for some sweet or sweetish vegetables, some of which may resemble a true fruit or are used in cookery as if they were a fruit, for example rhubarb."[citation needed]

Note that many items that are true fruits botanically speaking, are not considered culinary fruits. They are classified as vegetables in the culinary sense, (for example: the tomato, cucumber, zucchini, and so on), and hence they do not appear in this list. There also exist many fruits which are edible and palatable but for various reasons have not become popular.

Fruit and the Memory

Fruit and the memory
Fruit has a very positive effect on the brains just like carrots. So if you want to stimulate your brain functions you have to eat much fresh fruit and carrots (raw).

One of the substances that fruit contains are natural sugars. They stimulate the brain so we can think faster and recall information more quickly. There are many other substances that fruit contains which scientists think they stimulate the brain. How this works and which substance is responsible for which effect is still unknown as of yet and research is done at this very moment.

Students: improve your exam results!
We would like to tell you more about how students can improve their results by changing their eating habits before they have an exam. Fruit is the ultimate brain fuel!
You can actually improve your test results simply by changing your eating habits between waking up and doing the exam. The big trick is to consume fruit effectively. Have only fruit but as much as you want before you do your test and avoid the brain blocking foods white flour, refined white sugar, meat and dairy.

Check it out yourself once and you'll notice that you can think much more clear and faster if you have only eaten the right and light stuff before the exam. Afterwards you can have whatever you want!

Fruit
The effect fruit has on your brain is that it makes you think faster and recall information more easily. This is only an example. There is much more to learn about nutrition. There is also nutrition that has a negative effect on your brains.

Brain blockers
Here is a list of things that have a negative effect on the functioning of the brains:

* White flour, especially in combination with cheese. This forms a sticky substance in the intestines that costs much energy to digest. Much blood has to be sent to the digestive system so it cannot be sent to your head;
* Refined white sugar;
* Turkey; it contains a toxic element that has a strong tiring effect, it makes you sleepy;
* The combination of proteins (meat) and starch (potatoes). These two foods are burnt in a different way. It will cost your body more energy to burn them together than apart from each other.

Inform yourself
Not only fruit stimulates your brains, another type of food that does is carrots. Eat some raw carrots at least once a week to stimulate your memory.

A good memory is a joy for life!

Temperate fruits

Fruits of temperate climates are almost always borne on trees or woody shrubs or lianas. They will not grow adequately in the tropics, as they need a period of cold (a chilling requirement) each year before they will flower. The apple, pear, cherry, and plum are the most widely grown and eaten, owing to their adaptability. Many other fruits are important regionally but do not figure prominently in commerce. Many sorts of small fruit on this list are gathered from the wild, just as they were in Neolithic times.
